Vintage Beatrice Smith folk painting of fellow sleeping against a tree and a gal barbecuing. Bought in New Orleans directly from the artist in the 1970s. Pictured are her iconic round clouds and her round-faced African Americans either working or at leisure. Beatrice Smith although not African American, Smith grew up with African Americans in her daily life. You can tell the love of people and ease she depicts them. There is warmth with those around her. She is no longer with us.
